Heaphy Track

The Heaphy Track in Kahurangi National Park is one of New Zealand's most diverse Great Walks, traversing native forests, tussock downs, and spectacular West Coast beaches. This historic route follows parts of an ancient Maori trading path and later gold miners' routes.

Unique among Great Walks, the Heaphy Track allows mountain biking during winter months (1 October - 30 September), making it popular with both walkers and cyclists.
